National Weather Service Training Center (Kansas City)

About the NWSTC

The NOAA/NWS Training Center (NWSTC) located in Kansas City, MO hosts three of the five divisions in the NWS Office of the Chief Learning Officer (OCLO). These divisions provide training to NOAA/NWS employees in the areas of leadership, employee development, communication, impact-based decision support services (IDSS), equipment maintenance, systems support, and other related activities.

Our Training

We use a number of different formats to communicate with learners at the NWSTC. These formats include residence classes, onsite workshops, web-based training (WBT), self-paced WBT, teleconferencing, and videoconferencing (i.e. webinars). Often times, multiple formats are used to deliver instructional materials, resulting in what is known as a blended training format.

You can preview some of our web-based training materials by visiting the Topics page and locating content relevant to your interests, or learn more about the National Weather Service by going to the Commerce Learning Center (CLC) and taking our Welcome to the NWS online course.
